Learn To Fly

The best way to get into RC helicopter flying is to come down to the flying field (see contact page) and talk to members of the club, they are experienced and will tell you what to buy, and what not to buy, from there CMHCI members can help setup and test fly your new helicopter.

Learning to fly a radio control helicopter is challenging, but also very rewarding, it is not recommended that you walk into a hobby shop, buy any helicopter they are willing to sell you, and take it home to fly in the backyard.

All helicopters require a very detailed setup to fly correctly, a poorly setup helicopter will not fly properly and you will not be able to control it.

If you ask anyone that flies RC helicopters how to get started. they will tell you to visit and join a club, joining a club will save you a lot of money in repairs due to a poorly setup helicopter, and also allows you to mix with likeminded people.

As a guide, be prepared to invest up to $800 to get a good quality helicopter in the air. When buying a RC helicopter, remember that you get what you pay for (cheap isn't good - good isn't cheap)
